I used to work for a company that sold software to telemarketing agencies, and got to know how that business works. The people on the phone generally are in towns that have call centers because there aren't a lot of other jobs, the turnover is high because it's stressful work, their every move is monitored, and generally they are there because the next best option in town is Burger King. I don't like telemarketing calls anymore than anybody else, but picking on the person who's sitting there making low wages to pay the rent - rather than the person who actually decided to run a campaign and annoy you - is, I think, classic jerk-off behavior.
