organization 1:

  • hierarchical
  • centralized leadership

  • concentrated workforce

  • policy and procedure driven

organization 2::

  • networked
  • distributed leadership
  • loosely coupled
  • dispersed workforce
  • cross-trained generalists
  • guided by simple yet flexible rules
