Science Study: (Intercessory) Prayer Power is of little use
According to the latest issue of Seed Magazine, a recent study found that “praying for someone who is ill won’t help them recover.” The study tracked 1,800 patients who were undergoing heart surgery and looked for links between intercessory prayer and complication-free recovery.
Not only did the study find that there is no effect of prayers on post-surgery complications, it found that patients who were certain to receive intercessory prayer had higher rates of complications!

Here’s a little Monday morning theology for you:
God is not a Coke machine, where one puts in a few prayers and gets a desired outcome.
Certainly, no one loves you more than God [for God is love]. And God, who is timeless and therefore resides outside of time, knows what’s best for you from all eternity. Rest assured that God answers every prayer — but not always in a way that we can understand with our finite minds. Indeed, there is no better outcome for this life than heaven. And the only path to heaven is through redemption — which only comes through suffering.
That’s incredibly hard for most people to comprehend. In fact, if you are like most people, the truth of this comment won’t resonate with you fully until about five minutes before your own death. The good news is, even then it’s not too late to mend your relationship with God — for God is also mercy.
